How Often Should You Post on TikTok and Instagram? Let’s Settle the Debate.

Ever found yourself wondering just how often you should be posting on TikTok and Instagram? If you’ve been scouring the internet for answers, you’ve probably come across a whole lot of conflicting advice:

  • “You NEED to post 3 times a day on TikTok to get noticed!”
  • “Consistency is key! Posting at the exact same time every week is the secret to growth!”
  • “Only post when you’ve got something solid.”

It’s no surprise that these mixed opinions can leave you feeling confused and overwhelmed. That’s why I’m here to tackle one of the biggest debates in the marketing world: Quality vs. Quantity. Let’s break down how you can leverage both strategies to elevate your content and find a balance that works for you.

Quality vs. Quantity: The Debate Among Giants

To really understand this debate, let’s look at two of the biggest names in the content creation world: Gary Vaynerchuk and Mr. Beast. These two are like night and day in their approaches, but they both dominate in their own ways.

Gary Vee, a pioneer of “Hustle Culture,” is all about Quantity. He famously advocates for creating as much content as possible, claiming that “if you’re not producing 100 pieces of content a day across all platforms, you’re leaving money on the table.” (And yes, even if that sounds exhausting, there’s a method to his madness.)

On the other hand, Mr. Beast is a master of Quality. He dedicates an incredible amount of time and resources to ensure each video is meticulously crafted to keep viewers hooked from start to finish. For him, it’s all about delivering content that people won’t just watch—they’ll love.

So, who’s right? The truth is, both of them are, depending on your goals and where you are in your content creation journey. Let’s explore when to focus on Quantity and when to prioritize Quality.

1. When ‘Quantity’ Matters Most

As a content creator, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea of hitting a home run with every post. But the reality is that Quantity, especially in the early stages, is key to finding what resonates with your audience. Think of this phase as your experimental playground.

When you’re just starting out or trying to revitalize your channel, your primary goal should be to figure out what your audience wants. This is why experimenting with different video formats is so crucial. By posting frequently—say, three times a week—you’ll quickly learn what works and what doesn’t.

But here’s the catch: Quantity doesn’t mean sacrificing quality altogether. Each video should still have a strong hook, deliver value, and provide a satisfying payoff to the viewer. After a few weeks of consistent posting and testing, you’ll start to see which content styles resonate the most with your audience.

2. When & Why To Go ‘All In’ on Quality

Once you’ve identified what works and have honed your skills, it’s time to shift your focus to Quality. At this stage, think of Quality as creating content that not only meets expectations but exceeds them. Your audience has come to expect a certain level of value from you, and it’s essential to deliver.

If trying to maintain a high frequency of posts is causing your content to suffer, it’s better to slow down and ensure every piece you publish is impactful. Remember, your audience’s first impression of your content can set the tone for their continued engagement—or lack thereof.

Think of it like meeting a new friend for coffee. If the first hangout is amazing, you’re excited to do it again. But if the next meet-up is lackluster and full of awkward conversation, you might hesitate to hang out again. The same goes for your content. If it doesn’t hit the mark, your audience may not stick around for more.

Finding Your Sweet Spot

So, should you take Gary Vee’s advice and produce a ton of content, or follow Mr. Beast’s lead and focus on perfecting every piece? The answer lies in finding a balance between the two.

Start by producing more content to develop your skills, discover what your audience loves, and build momentum. Then, as you gain confidence and clarity, transition to creating fewer but more meaningful pieces that leave a lasting impact.

Ultimately, the goal is to find a posting frequency that feels sustainable for you while delivering content that resonates deeply with your audience. Whether that’s one amazing video a week or three solid posts, the key is to keep evolving and improving.

So, embrace both Quantity and Quality in your content strategy, and you’ll find your sweet spot for growth and engagement.

Until next time—happy creating!
